Sarah Woodham
Shakespeare’s Peddler
Sarah’s sampler is so special to me, and it is the oldest one in my collection. She was only 9 when she stitched her piece, and the original has holes, has faded and sports a fair number of stains. But the sweet verse about being thankful for what she’s got and her aproned girls with their hands on their hips steals the hearts of everyone who sees it.
Mine is stitched in a combination of hand-dyed silks: Gloriana, Belle Soie and Silk N Colours, but I include a Sampler Threads conversion and a DMC conversion. I recommend 40 count Olde Towne Blend by R&R Reproductions as the fabric, but you can stitch this on any count or color you like. Please note that the verse is stitched over-one, so it is not suitable for stitching on Aida. The stitch count is 240 by 286.
