Rachel is a reproduction of a Pennsylvania sampler. Rachel Long was born and lived in Bucks County and used motifs pulled from all over, Quaker, Scottish, and Berlin woolwork as well as common motifs found on English samplers. I love her exuberant, yet tasteful use of color and her absolute disregard for making her border symmetrical. I have included a bit of Rachels genealogy in the chart.

The model was stitched on Mocha linen from Weeks Dye Works.
Threads used are overdyed silks, but a DMC conversion is given. Gloriana threads: Alpine Taupe, Branch Coral, Brick, Crème de la Crème, Dutch Red, Hazelnut Dark (add this in Tudor for the over one lettering if done on high count linen), Lacquered Gold, Schoolhouse Red, Summer Gold, Tanager Green, and Tangerine. Classic Colorworks threads: Boysen Beauty, Pink Quartz, Sagebrush, and Sister Scarlet. NPI 125.
