Description
This my friends is a stunner! Mabel Tuke 1779 is a beautiful sampler stitched by the daughter of two of the founders of not only Ackworth School (Quaker), but also Bootham School and Trinity Lane Quaker Girl’s School. Mabel’s mother, Esther, even taught at Ackworth for a period of time, and Mabel was a student there as well.
We have lots of wonderful history about Mabel and her family, and their contributions not only to education, but to the abolition of slavery and the humane treatment of the mentally ill.
The sampler size is 126w x 137h.
Stiches included are: cross stitch over 1 (name and date); cross stitch over 2; Algerian Eyelet over 2 and over 4; Rice Stitch; Queen Stitch; Bargello/Flame Stitch; Satin Stitch
It’s a small sampler and perfect for learning and practicing these beautiful stitches.
If you want some extra help, I’ve also created a video tutorial and smaller design that uses all of the stitches and walks you through each one of them. The tutorial may be purchased separately here: Mabel Tuke Small and Video Tutorial. Please note that the stitch diagrams are not included with the tutorial, but are available in the Mabel Tuke 1779 Sampler booklet. I would encourage you to purchase both at the same time. If you purchase the thread kit for Mabel Tuke 1779, you should have enough to stitch both the Sampler and the Tutorial Small Design, but if you’d like to be certain, please purchase a single additional skein of NPI 502 (or SDA 944 if stitching with Au ver a Soie). Please click over to the product description for the Tutorial for additional information.
