A gorgeous Bristol Orphanage reproduction sampler from Sassafras Samplers.
The booklet contains lots of history and pictures from Alice’s orphanage record. We were also able to find Alice and what happened to her.
The booklet is the standard you’ve come to appreciate from Sassafras Samplers, with large chart, clear symbols, color blocks, large centerfold photograph of the sampler, and black and white available upon request. We’ve also included a custom project card with extracted motifs from Alice’s sampler.
This sampler is suitable for aida or linen, as it is cross stitch only. We’ve even included an optional additional chart for the bits that Alice picked out to cover up that she was in an orphanage.
The original sampler was stitched with one color of red thread. We recommend using Needlepoint Inc. 503 or 504 silk, DMC 115, or your favorite red thread.
If stitched using one strand on 36ct. linen over two threads, or on 18ct. aida, this project will require approximately 8 skeins of DMC floss, or one 45 meter hank of NPI silk, or one 40 yard hank of Classic Colorworks Belle Soie silk.
Linen similar in color to the antique would include Weeks Dye Works Parchment or Fox & Rabbit’s Paperbark.
