This is a beautiful Quaker Sampler believed to be from the Ackworth School. The stitching is exquisite and the motifs are beautifully spaced. No date is noted on the sampler, but we believe it to be mid to late 1700s. One medallion holds the initials AC. We believe those to be the initials of the stitcher. Based on the beauty of the work, and the wonderful placement of each motif in proximity to the others, we believe this to be a teaching piece. This is consistent with the lack of name and date. Photos of this sampler were shared with the Ackworth School Curator in 2016, and she agreed that this beautiful sampler appeared consistent with the works originating from the Ackworth School.
