Quaker Sampler: A Secret Sky
Modern Folk Embroidery
Stitch count: 251w x 280h
What is it about Quaker samplers that fascinates us? Whether it’s the simple geometry of the medallions, the random scattering of the designs, or the natural elements found on nearly all old Quaker embroideries – this sampler has plenty to offer! Taking inspiration from 18th and 19th century samplers, there’s over 60 original designs, and no less than 4 period alphabets and numbers from the mid 1800s that you can use (in conjunction with the empty grid paper) to personalise your work.
The sampler also includes a beautiful quote by the 13th-century Persian poet and Sufi mystic Rumi. The quote seemed to go so well with Quaker aesthetics and their philosophy of love, peace, and tolerance, that I decided to incorporate it on this sampler.
Model stitched on 32 count linen. Requires approximately 12-15 skeins of DMC floss.
