Description
“Ancient Beauty for the Modern World”
This collection of six crosses is styled after crosses found in Byzantine liturgical ornaments and vestments. They can be used for many different projects such as traditional Pascha (Easter) basket covers, prosphora (holy bread used in Greek and Russian Orthodox churches which is brought to the church by the laity, traditionally in an embroidered cover or wrap), or baptismal robes.
Ranging in size from 2 x 2 inches to 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches and simpler to more ornate designs, they can be used in many ways. To apply to any non-counted thread fabric, simply use waste canvas.
The photos show the designs worked with 2 strands of DMC floss in 355 red, 729 gold, and 317 pewter colorway to give the effect of the gold and silver threads but they can also be worked in three colors of your choosing.
This is a chart only.
Stitch counts vary from 30 x 30 stitches to 52 x 52 stitches.
