Tho Oceans Wide Sampler Freebie
Our favorite local sampler find! We’re so happy to share it with you, our Stitching Friend.
Please feel free to stitch it in any color choice and ground choice (perforated paper, linen, or aida). It would be really great if you stitched one for a friend 🙂

“Tho oceans wide between us roar
Tho distant be our lot
Tho should i never see thee more
Dear friend forget me not.”
I found this sampler in a local antique shop called The Screen Door. We were standing in front of an antique drafting table trying to decide if it would fit in our car. In the midst of really wanting this beautiful drafting table for the shop, and waffling over whether we could fit it into the Subaru, I looked to my left and noticed this old tarnished little frame with what looked to be a perforated paper sampler in it. I read the verse and found myself very touched by it. I took it off the wall and turned it over and my heart swelled.
Yay!! We Have a Brick and Mortar Shop in Weaverville
Hello All!
Wow… it has been a long road but we have finally arrived!! We have finally moved into our new Brick and Mortar at 30 N. Main Street in Weaverville, NC. Its a beautiful open space with lots of windows and natural light. We have a wall of fibers and three monster spinner racks of fibers that look gorgeous in all that natural light!
We had a great first day on Saturday June 24th with a mix of locals and tourists and long time customers coming to visit. THANK YOU!! To everyone who managed to come out and see us! I hope you enjoyed the new shop and I can’t wait to have you back as we finish stocking all of our inventory and getting all of our “needful things” in their homes around the shop.
We have lots of inventory that is making its way out and onto the shelves, so please be patient as we get through it all.
We have two wonderful classes coming up in August and I hope you will check out the registration forms here on the web site (www.sassyjacksstitchery.com). Susan Greening Davis is presenting a wonderful Antique Sampler Lecture and Blackwork workshop for us on the evening of August 14, 2017 (Monday Night 6 – 9 pm). And the next day, Tuesday August 15th, we have a really special class with Susan. It’s a beautiful drum pin cushion with a vintage clamp designed especially for Sassy Jacks!! A lovely verse and a wonderful little Sassy Jacks Stitchery squirrel! I really love this one! This is an all day class beginning at 9 am in the shop. Prices are super reasonable and include all the kit fees. I so hope you can make one or both of these. Sign up soon as we’ll need to get a good count and cut off registration in a few weeks.
And don’t miss our First Fall Fling class on September 30th. This is a wonderful little band sampler made into a beautiful purse with special wooden sides custom made in France. Also brought to us by Susan Greening Davis. Pre-stitching will allow you to focus on finishing in class, so sign up soon!
And we are taking reservations for Nicola Parkman’s Sampler Lecture and workshop coming in January 2018. Send me a note to be put on our list as we finalize the details. Email Info@sassyjacksstitchery.com
One last note… you may have wondered why the website has been down for maintenance for so long… It crashed and had to be restored. Sadly the restoration was only done to January 2015… meaning that much had to be rebuilt, and all the inventory needs to be updated. I did all the rebuild, but the inventory update will take time. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, please give us a call and we will check the shop shelves for you.
Thank you so much to everyone who lived this dream with me the last three years! It has been a long labor of love, and we are now on our way!!! I just can’t tell you how full my heart is knowing that I will soon have my stitching sisters sitting about me in the shop on stitch night, or milling around and chatting on a special trip to Asheville, or learning and enjoying one of our many upcoming classes. My cup truly runneth over 🙂
I hope to see you soon!
